At least 37 in calves were yesterday given to Nwoya district under operation wealth creation. The diary breed calves when grown up are expected to provide milk to raise income for beneficiaries.

Yesterday’s distribution brings to 60 the total number of cows given under operation wealth creation in the financial year 2015/2016.

Lt Col Alfred Olak, the Operation Wealth creation coordinator for Nwoya asked the beneficiary to take good care of the animals to improve their household income.

“We believe that the community will be able to meet all their basic needs if they put to good use what they get under operation wealth creation since their income will go up,’’ Lt Col Olak told beneficiaries.

Both Vicky Ker-too Olwoch and Ojera Alex, two beneficiaries, hailed the government for the program which they said will help in fighting poverty.

In the current financial year, the government has increased operation wealth creation budget from 203 billion to 800 billion.
