A Gulu university medical student was Sunday morning found dead a few metres outside of a student hostel in Laroo Division in Gulu Municipality.
Kizito Aliti, 23, a fifth year student was on his internship awaiting graduation in October this year.
He was found dead by fellow students dead outside of Agira Hostel. The students alerted police who came, picked his body and took it to the Gulu regional hospital mortuary.
Acholi Times could not establish whether the late Kizito Aliti was a resident At Agira hostel or not.
Gulu University medical students usually reside at Ocwee Hostel next to Gulu regional Referral Hospital.
The cause of the student’s death has not yet been established.
Aswa region police spokesman Jimmy Patrick Okema said police is awaiting his relatives before conducting a postmortem.
“Postmortem can only be done in the presence of the relatives [of the deceased] who have not yet come. Right now we still do not know the cause of the dead of the medicine student,” said the police spokesman.
The late Aliti, Acholi Times understands, hails from Maracha district in West Nile.
A course mate to the deceased who preferred anonymity said the late Aliti was healthy although he had sustained what he described as a ‘‘mild injury’’ in July.
The police say vomit was found next to where the body of the deceased was found. It is however not yet established whether the vomit was from the deceased or not.
