A Lira- based journalist who reportedly posted a picture of himself online in bar, with a pistol on a table, drinks and a wallet stuffed with money has been arrested in Lira district.
Bonny Odongo who works as a sub editor for Rupiny, a weekly Luo publication owned by the Vision Group was arrested Wednesday evening the police.
Reports indicate that police has questioned Odongo over the photo which is doing the rounds online. Odongo reportedly claims he got the pistol from a friend. Police has reportedly summoned the said friend for questioning.
The Lira District Police Commander, Joel Tubanone, confirmed the arrest of the journalist and revealed Mr Odongo was being held by police to explain how he got to take pictures with the firearm. Odongo has reportedly disassociated himself from the photo claiming it was doctored.
