The minister of local government Ben Kamumanya on Friday cancelled a meeting to discuss border disputes over land that Amuru is having with neighboring districts.
The meeting was scheduled to take place on Friday according to a letter addressed to the district chairpersons and Chief Administrative Officers of Amuru, Adjumani, Yumbe and Arua districts.
The letter dated 28 September 2017 signed by Mr Kamumanya partly read:
‘‘As you are aware, your district has for some time now been involved in border disputes with the neighboring Districts which has time and again impacted negatively on service delivery in the affected areas.’’
The Amuru district chairperson, Michael Lakony however said on Wednesday last week he received a phone call from the minister cancelling the meeting indefinitely.
Mr Lakony said he did not know why the meeting had been abruptly cancelled.
The border dispute between Amuru and Adjumani has for years now been a source of tension leading to the loss of life and property.

I sadly read recently in the News papers as leaders in Acoli have failed to come up with the right land Reform on customary land tenure. Please contact the likes of Livingstone Okelle Okello. This man is an Acoli Traditionalist, former parliamentaria, former commissioner of lands and a lawyer at that. I strongly believe that he can guide the Acoli People on the right path as far as land is concerned. So please consult this Elder.
