Commercial flights on the Gulu- Juba route is expected to resume in Gulu tomorrow after years of absence.

Sky Travels and Aviation Company, a Juba based  firm, will conduct two weekly direct flights from Gulu to Juba International Airport.

The maiden flight is expected take off tomorrow at 5pm.

Nevy Joyce Apio, the Sky Travels and Aviation Company Operation Team Leader in Gulu said:

“When you look at the tourism sites in the region the best place you can connect through is Gulu,” said Apio as she explained why Sky Travels and Aviation chose Gulu.

Apio explained that the flights will ease transport between Uganda and South Sudan and promote tourism in northern Uganda.

The aviation company plans to operate a 12 and 19-seater planes along the Gulu- Juba route.

The maiden flight, according to Apio, has been booked by passengers from as far as Kitgum and Adjumani.

Sky Travels and Aviation Company started operating flights from Arua Airfield to Juba in January 2019.

The coming of Sky Aviation to Gulu is welcome news to travellers  after Eagle Air stopped scheduled commercial flights.
