A corpse suspected to be that of Kenyan national, Joseph Wafula, has been been recovered from the banks of River Aswa in Pader district.
Wafula, 35, a water expert drowned in River Aswa when their boat capsized on the 25th of November last year. Wafula was travelling in the boat with Charles Komakech.
The duo were conducting a routine test and monitoring of water levels at the construction site of a hydropower dam project.
The body of Komakech was recovered by police after the boat accident but not that of Wafula.
Dickson Ojok, the Angagura Sub County Councilor in Pader said on Monday that locals sighted a body on the banks of the river and alerted the police.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson confirmed that a body had been recovered by police divers on Monday afternoon and taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital awaiting a postmortem and DNA test to confirm its identity.
