    Suspected Rapist in Amuru Stubbed to Death in Amuru

    A suspected rapist was on Friday last week stabbed to death by an angry mob in Amuru district.

    The incident happened about 6:30pm in Acoto Village, Amuru Sub County in Amuru district.

    The deceased who at the time of publishing this story was still unidentified reportedly waylaid and attempted to rape a 23- year old woman who was on her way home from fetching water.

    Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson told our reporter that the deceased threw himself on the woman and attempted to rape her.

    The woman made an alarm, according to the police spokesman, which attracted a crowd who descended on him. In the fracas, the deceased was stabbed in the chest.

    Two suspects have been arrested including the woman involved. The other suspect was named as Thomas Oola, 20.

    The deceased’s body was taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for post –mortem as police investigates the murder.

    Murder is contrary to section 188 of the Penal Code Act and any person convicted of the offense can suffer the maximum penalty of death.
