Two people in Nwoya district have drowned in Ayago falls.
The two, including a 16-year old student, are from Okii village in Koch Goma subcounty.
Police identified the deceased as Isaac Komakech, a S3 student of Kigumba Intensive Secondary School and Patrick Oola, 28.
The incident happened on March 31, 2020 at 2PM, according to police.
Preliminary investigation by police indicates the pair had gone to cultivate in their garden near Ayago Falls when they drowned.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson said Komakech was swept by the fast running water after he jumped in the river to swim. Oola died as he tried to rescue Komakech.
Their bodies were retrieved on Wednesday and handed over to their relatives for burial.
A case of drowning has been registered at Nwoya Central Police Station under CRB number 318/ 2020.
The same spot is where government plans to construct 600 megawatts (800,000 hp) hydroelectric power project.
