Amuru district is set to distribute over 41,000 copies of question pamphlets to all its primary school pupils to aid their learning during the lockdown.
The distribution of the pamphlets is expected to start tomorrow, Wednesday. The pamphlets are to be given to all primary seven pupils in both governments headed and privately-owned schools in the district.
Apollo Okello Kagwa, the Amuru District Secretary of Education and Health told our reporter in an interview that the pamphlets are part of the donation from Save the Children Uganda to Amuru District COVID -19 Taskforce.
Kagwa says the question pamphlets shall help learners during the lockdown as currently there is no contact between learners and teachers.
“With this lockdown, there is no teaching, there is no contact between teachers and the pupils, but I think they will be able to revise once the books reach them,” said Kagwa
Kagwa revealed that Amuru District COVID -19 Taskforce shall use the existing structures to distribute the pamphlets to each learner.
“We are planning as district taskforce through our relevant structures from the district to the L.C.I level, and we believe that through that proper arrangement, we shall be able to distribute those books to the learners.”
Michael Lakony, the Amuru District Chairperson revealed in an interview that the question pamphlets are valued at over 200 million shilling.
He appealed to parents to give their children ample time to do the revision since those revision papers are in conformity to the national curriculum.
Denise Lemio, a resident of Obuu Parish, Lamogi Sub –County in Amuru District hailed the district for the intervention saying it will help the learners who a currently not revising as their parents have engaged them in farm work.
