At least 1,185 people in Gulu District have been tested for Coronavirus since March this year, according to figures by the District COVID-19 Taskforce.

The tested were suspected to have come into contact with those who had tested positive for the virus.

The figures cover the period between March and July 2020.

The 1,185 were part of 2,899 who were either put in institutional quarantine or in self- quarantine.

According to the report dated July 21, by the Gulu District COVID-19 Taskforce, 726 were quarantined at Laroo Quarantine Centre, 23 at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor Gulu and 22 at the UPDF quarantine centre.

By July 21, out of the 1,184 samples picked for testing at Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) Entebbe, results for 175 people were yet to be released.

Since May 17, at least 163 people were treated at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for COVID-19.

Of the over 160, 124 were successfully treated and discharged after recovering from the viral disease.

Currently, only 38 COVID-19 are being treated at the government health facility.
