The Acholi Parliamentary Group (APG) have weighed in on the demand for 32 million shillings from the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA).
The money was a prize for Northern Uganda after emerging champion of the second edition of the FUFA Drum in December 2019.
Acholi Province defeated Bukedi province in a penalty shootout during the finals played at Akii Bua Memorial stadium in Lira Town.
One year and half year later, the province has not received the money which was expected to be disbursed immediately after the victory.
Bernard Loum, the Chairperson Acholi Province said that they have several times engaged FUFA officials to claim the ward in vain.
Now, Members of Parliament from the Acholi Sub Region under the APG have weighed in with a demand for FUFA to fulfill its obligation.
Gilbert Olanya, the APG General Secretary wondered why FUFA has since then failed to disburse the money meant for Acholi Province without clear communication.
He explained that APG intends to meet the FUFA President Moses Magogo and FUFA officials to explain the delay and how payment of the prize money can be fast-tracked.
Members of APG and some of its leadership including Polly Philips Okin Ojara and Leader of Opposition Parliament (LOP) Betty Aol Ocan have all expressed concern about the delay.
Recently, the Acholi province players through their captain Denis Okot accused the team leaders of ignoring them at a time when they are most need of help because of the covid-19 lockdown.
