Nwoya district has received 56,480 kilograms of maize seedling under operation wealth.

The seedlings will be distributed to the entire district as part of efforts to boost food production and food security under the Operation Wealth Creation.

Lt Col Alfred Alak, the Operation Wealth creation coordinator for Nwoya told Acholi Times on Monday that the seedlings will be distributed to beneficiaries identified by village chiefs in the district.

Lt Col Olak explained that each household will be given a seedling enough to plant on at least an acre of land.

Olak warned against the misuse of the seedlings.

“We want beneficiary who are ready so as to guard against the abuse of the programs where others in the past would get and sell off immediately, “said Olak.

Under the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS), there was wide spread corruption and abuse. Naads has since then been replaced with Operation Wealth Creation managed by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF).
