The family of the 65- year- old woman who was gruesomely murdered on the night of Friday last week has asked the police to allow them to meet their mother’s killers and ask them why they did it.
Ms Sabina Adong’s badly disfigured body was found in a maize garden in Cuk pa Lujwero, Pece division in Gulu Municipality in the morning of Saturday last week.
Adong’s jaw bones were broken after was attacked by a group of unknown assailants.
The killers later dragged her body from the hut where she was sleeping to a nearby garden where she was found.
Her family is now demanding that the killers answer why their mum was killed in such a barbaric manner and the reason she deserved to die.
Mr Simon Peter Odong, the younger son to the deceased said, “It was the most painful thing to strike my heart.”
While holding back tears, Odong said the suspects who killed his mother do not deserve any leniency because of what they have done to the family.
He wondered why someone would wake up in the morning and think of killing an innocent woman who is struggling to make ends meet.
Odong asked police to work hard so that the killers are brought to book and charged accordingly.
Mr Oscar Ojok, 46, the first born of the slain elderly woman says he is still coming to terms to the death of his mother.
Ojok said, “I will continue shading tears until my mother’s killers are apprehended and ask them why they targeted my mother.”
Mr Fedinaldo Lugaja, the elder brother to the deceased says he will miss his sister because she was a jolly person who did not deserve such kind of barbaric killing.
Gulu Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Betty Aol Ocan who visited the family on Tuesday condemned the killing and said there is no reason whatsoever for one take a life.
Aol says asked police to do more to protect life and property of people who work hard in order to sustain their lives.
With the help of the police dog, three suspects were arrested for questioning at Gulu Central Police Station.
Mr James Asubo, the O.C Crime Gulu while addressing residents of Cuk Pa Lujwero following the murder promised that police will do all within its power to get hold of the killers.
However several attempts to get a comment from Mr Martin Okoyo, the District Police Commander (DPC) on whether the family will be granted their wish to have a glimpse of the faces of the suspects were futile.
