Agago and Pader district councils in a special session in Lamiyo Sub County honoured the late Charles Gatete.

Agago district is to construct a memorial in remembrance of the late Charles Gatete because of his contribution to the district.

This was announced by the Agago district Speaker John Oweka Bostify.

Oweka revealed this on Monday during a joint council session for Pader and Agago district councils held at Lamiyo Sub County in Agago district.

The council session was meant to pay last respects for the late Gatete.

Gatete was a councillor V, Lira Palwo Sub County from 2006-2011. Then Agago was still under Pader district.

Gatete had recently contested for Agago County Member of Parliament flag bearer under the NRM ticket and emerged 5th with 3,347 votes.

Agago Speaker Oweka said it was resolved that 2.7 million shilling should be raised with each councillor contributing up to 100,000 shillings to support the family of the late Gatete.

The speaker also said, Agago council will place a portrait of the late Charles Gatete in the council hall in his honour.

During the burial of the fallen former councillor which was attended by an estimated 5,000 people, NRM party executives resolved to lobby for the family of the late Gatete to meet President Museveni when he travels campaigns to Agago for his campaigns.

Museveni is expected to be in Pader and Agago on the 23rd November 2015.
