Letter of complaint to NRM SG Amuru
Six NRM members of the NRM including one executive in Amuru district have petitioned their party headquarter for their Chair William Wilson Nokrach to be removed from office.
The NRM members say Nokrach defied the party position when he chose to contest as an independent for Northern Uganda MP for persons with disabilities after losing in the party primaries.
Nockrach the northern Uganda Member of Parliament for persons with disabilities lost in the NRM primaries to Joyce Acan.
In a letter dated 15 January addressed to the NRM Secretary General, Kasule Lumumba, the party members said Nockrach is occupying the office illegally because his action to contest as an Independent candidate contravenes Article 8 clause 4(C) and (e; iii) of the NRM constitution which prevents a member from contesting as an independent.
The petitioners asked the NRM secretariat to halt any dealings with Nokrach and also told the NRM Secretariat to give them a written directive on the next steps to take on Nokrach.
NRM Deputy Secretary General, Richard Todwong said it was improper for an NRM member to contest as an independent. He said Nokrach should leave office to the Vice Chairman until after the elections.
“In the particular case of Amuru we want to find out if really the chairman of the party is running as an independent candidate then definitely we shall write to him to leave the office to his vice for the time being ”Todwong said.
But when contacted, Nockrach declined to comment on the matter.
