A man who attempted to buy goods with a fake 50,000 note was on Monday morning shot and injured by an armed security guard.
Eric Oyet was shot on the right leg at around 2am from Don Filling Station in Gulu town by a security guard attached Saracen Security Company.
The suspected fake money dealer has been admitted at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson told a press briefing at the offices of the Northern Uganda Media Club on Monday that the suspect had gone to shop with the fake note at Don Filling Station.
According to Okema, on learning that the teller had realized that the note was a counterfeit, Oyet started to run away but was shot on the legs by the guard.
Okema praised the guard for disabling and not shooting to death the suspect.
The police spokesman said the suspect will be charged in court after he is discharged from hospital.
