    MP Akol replaces Okin as APG Chairperson

    Anthony Akol, the Member of Parliament for Kilak North County in Amuru District has been elected as the new Chairperson Acholi Parliamentary Group (APG).

    He replaces Phillip Poly Okin, the Member of Parliament for Chua East County in Kitgum District.

    AGP is a caucus that brings together Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Acholi sub-region.

    Akol (FDC), beat Ms Catherine Lamwaka, the Omoro District Woman MP with 11 votes in an election held on Thursday.

    Lamwaka garnered 10 votes.

    Ricky Anywar of Agago County in Agago District went unopposed as the Vice-Chairperson.

    Gilbert Olanya, the Kilak South MP was replaced by John Amos Okot of Agago East County in Agago District as Secretary-General.

    Others elected were Judith Peace Acan for Treasurer, Simon Wokorach Deputy Secretary-General, and Sharon Laker Balmoi, Secretary Legal Affairs.

    Only 15 MPs out of 26 MPs from the region attended the meeting.
