Officials from the Inspectorate of Government(IGG) consulting before physical verification of beneficiaries in Omiya Pacwa Sub County in Agago district

    By Mildred Auma

The office of the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) on Thursday last week recovered from Agago leaders 10 oxen and 6 ox ploughs distributed two weeks ago under the NUSAF3 project.

The leaders including councilors, an LC3 Chairman, two teachers and a Gombolola Internal Security Officer reportedly removed the names of the rightful beneficiaries and replaced them with their relatives and cronies.

Out of the recovered items, 2 ox ploughs were reallocated to rightful beneficiaries, while the remaining 4 ox ploughs and 10 oxen were handed over to the sub county for reallocation this week after identification of rightful beneficiaries.

The Inspectorate of government NUSAF3 focal point person, Victus Omoding said that the leaders found with the items do not quality to get them because they are public officers and are in gainful employment.

According to Omoding, NUSAF3 is meant for the poorest of poor communities.

The government should provide 1,000 ploughs to people, they are not expensive. Why send only those numbers when the need is greater. The same officials in higher positions blame citizens as lazy but can not provide enough tools to do the job. A minimum of one thousand ploughs should be provided to people to enable them produce more and live meaningful productive lives. That is not asking for much!
